How It Works Behind the Scenes
Wallet Mode
In Wallet Mode, transactions execute directly on their respective blockchains. When you swap ETH for USDC, the transaction happens on Ethereum mainnet (or your chosen L2).
Trade Mode
Trade Mode uses NEAR Protocol's intent-based architecture. Your assets are represented as balances in a unified system, allowing instant, feeless trades. Under the hood:
- Your trade request becomes an "intent"
- Solvers compete to fulfill your trade
- The best execution is selected automatically
- Settlement happens on NEAR Protocol
Switching Modes
- Open the sidebar
- Click on your current mode indicator
- Select the mode you want to switch to
- Your portfolio view will update accordingly
Switching modes doesn't move or affect your actual assets - it changes how you interact with them.
Choosing the Right Mode
Choose Wallet Mode if you:
- Need specific blockchain features
- Want to interact with DeFi protocols
- Require chain-specific transactions
- Prefer traditional on-chain transparency
Choose Trade Mode if you:
- Trade frequently and want zero fees
- Prefer a simplified unified view
- Don't need chain-specific features
- Want the fastest execution
